GREAT TORRINGTON GOLF CLUB – LOCAL RULES
Please note that we have public rights of way across the common land on which the course is played. Golfers are reminded that walkers have priority at all times and you must not play if walkers are in range. Golfers must use extreme caution.
1. Out of Bounds
A ball is out of bounds if it lies on or beyond the line of any white stakes.
The road is not out of bounds when playing from the 3rd & 12th tees.
BALLS PLAYED ONTO THE FIELDS SURROUNDING THE COURSE MUST NOT BE RECOVERED
2. Temporary Greens & Fringe of Greens
A ball lying on a temporary green not in play or the fringe of a green that does not belong to the hole being played MUST be treated as if on the "Wrong Putting Green" and relief MUST be taken in accordance with rule 13.1f
3. Protection of Young Trees
Relief MUST be taken when a staked tree or trees protected by wire netting interferes with a players stance or the area of intended swing in accordance with Rule 16.1f
4. Tractor Marks, Drains & Paths
Relief may be obtained for a ball lying on tractor tyre marks, stone filled drain, an artificial path, or where the drain or path interferes with a players stance or the intended swing in accordance with rule 16.1
5. Manhole Covers, Winter Tee Frames and Wooden Steps
Relief may be obtained in accordance with rule 16.1
Penalty for Breach of Local Rules 2 & 3: Match Play - Loss of Hole, Stroke Play - Two Strokes
