Veteran's Section

Great Torrington Golf Club Veteran's Section is open to all male club members over 60 years old and it's a thriving membership. Our weekly meetings take place on Tuesday mornings where we have weekly competitions which are mainly qualifiers in the Stableford format with tee times bookable from 08:00 a.m. to 09.30 a.m.

As a club we also play friendly matches throughout the summer against a number of local clubs as well as a regular annual competition as part of the North Devon Veterans League where 10 local clubs participate in two divisions of 5 teams with each of the division winners playing in a final meeting to decide the overall champions. 

Qualifiers are held regularly throughout the year and three “Veterans Open” events are hosted each year in June, July and September. Details of all these Competitions can be found on the Veteran's notice board in the clubhouse. 

The Veteran's Section also competes in the Emerton-Court Trophy which is open to all Golf Clubs in Devon but is restricted to members over 60 years of age. Format of play is a ten-man team playing four-ball better-ball with home and away legs.

In order to be considered for Emerton Court selection, veterans must be a member of the Devon Men Veteran Golfers Association (DMVGA) costing £5.00 annually. Click the link to visit the DMVGA website for more details.
